A few weeks ago I was browsing through Pinterest trying to find inspiration for my holiday decor. I stumbled across an awesome image from The Tomkat Studio that inspired this tutorial. While I was certainly inspired by their tutorial I did it in my own frugal and simple way.
After a short trip to Hobby Lobby, I returned home with the Wooden Letters ($1.47/2pk), Glitter ($4.99) and silver string ($1.00). I spent less that $25 on the supplies I needed to complete the Christmas Tree Garland.
I than began by painting each letter using a small paint brush and interior semi gloss white paint that we had around the house.
The boys and I had a little assembly line, I painted and they doused the letters with glitter before the paint dried to avoid having to use glue.
After all the letters were covered in glitter and allowed to fully dry, I than sprayed several coats of clear acrylic sealant. Again this was a product we had on hand and all though it did help seal in the glitter it is not a MUST have.
Once the sealant was dry I than applied hot glue to the back top portion of the letters and glued them to the silver string I purchased.
Voila!
We love our DIY Christmas Tree Garland and hope you do too! Will you conquer any DIY projects during the holidays?
I love it so unique and to get the kids to help out puts the icing on the cake or in your case the sign on the tree.

So creative, fun, easy and cute. After starting a blog it really has made me more DIY. I’ll be in Hobby Lobby lookin’ at things and goin’, “I know I could make that for much cheaper.” The downside is that I’m always tryin’ to make things and have so many unfinished projects its a shame.
I think it’s great. I wish I was more crafty!!

Very cute! I could use one of these on my tree to bulk it up a little. We bought a cheap fake tree from Walmart because we don’t have a ton of money this year so it’s a little bare… haha. I’m trying to bulk it up with lots of ornaments and garland though 🙂

It will definitely fill up the tree I have very few additional ornaments. Its what you Fashionistas would call a Statement Piece! 🙂
That is beautiful! I might just have to make these!
