Disclosure: I received complimentary services from JLacole. But as always all opinions are my own.
I recently been toying with the ideal of getting eyelash extensions. I love the way that false lashes make my eyes pop and wanted to capture that look on a more consistent bases rather than just on date nights. So I began to research all things eyelash extensions and wanted to share with you a few tips for us eyelash extension newbies!
Eyelash Extensions Takes Time
Be prepared for at least a two hour session for a full set of eyelash extensions. The upper eyelids has anywhere from 75-150 eyelashes on it, so how full you like your lashes will determine how long it takes. Each extension is dipped in semi permanent glue (formaldehyde free) and meticulously applied to a single natural lash.
In preparation for the application of your lashes your bottom lashes will be tapped down to keep them out of the way and a white “back drop” for your upper lashes applied to make it easier for the tech to see each individual lash. If applied properly neither the tape nor the “backdrop” is painful or uncomfortable. In fact most people are so comfortable that they actually take a little nap during their eyelash extensions session.
After Care For Eyelash Extensions
The most important thing you should not do is get your lashes wet for the first 24 hours. This time gives your glue time to set and create a better bond to the lashes. I even went as far to avoid excercising because it causes me to sweat heavily. After the first day you should only use lukewarm water on your face. Also, avoid rubbing your lashes with a towel and do not sleep on your face. In addition avoid constantly tugging or rubbing eyelashes because you may encourage your eyelashes to fall out prematurely(due to tugging and oil from fingers).
Your technician should provide you with a clean small brush to maintain your lashes throughout the day. Also, avoid using oil based cleansers and do not apply mascara.
Eyelash Extensions Are Not Permanent
Eyelash extensions will fall out as your natural lashes fall out. You will need to get a fill every two to four weeks depending on the rate at which your lashes fall out and how well you care for your extensions.

Very informative tips. Once your extensions are done, do your best not to fiddle with or tug at them, as it would not only pull them out, but also damage your original eyelashes. If you want to get rid of them for good, visit a salon and get them removed by a professional.
