Everyone’s headed back to school and one of the worries at the top of moms list is how to fight back to school germs. Actually, the illness that comes with germs. You see last year was the youngest first year at school (kindergarten) and boy did his body take a beating. He had to have picked up every germ, cold and downright ickiness that was at the school. He even came down with a bout of pneumonia. Although, I had heard many people say that this would happen I wasn’t prepared for it because it didn’t happen to my oldest son. So this year I am adding a new weapon in our arsenal in this fight against germs.
Ways to Fight Back To School Germs
1 Cleanliness
In a perfect world my children and yours would heed the advice of their mothers to avoid germs when they go back to school.
- Wash hands frequently
- Avoid touching mouth and face with hands
- Use the hand sanitizer we send in and attach to their book bags
- Avoid sharing food
- Sneeze into your sleeve to avoid spreading germs
2 Healthy Lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle equals a strong immune system.
- Eat a diet rich in vegetables and fruit (low in sugar)
- Exercise regularly
- Get plenty of rest
3 Supplements
Here is where I dropped the ball while I was giving my sons a multi vitamin high in vitamin C I wasn’t giving them probiotics. But this year I have armed myself and sons with Zahler Kidophilus Plus Probiotic Formula for Children.
With a high potent blind of four distinct probiotic strains, including the well know I acidophilus, Kidophilus Plus works quickly and effectively to suppress the growth of potentially harmful bacteria, improve immune function, reduce allergies and inflammation, and enhance the protective barrier of the digestive tract.
Zahler’s Kidophilus Plus contains 10 billion live and active CFUs, which effectively puts the brakes on the growth of disease-causing bacteria, such as salmonella and shigella-caused dysentery, diarrhea, and even virus caused flu. it also clears up yeast infections, reduces bad breath and flatulence, aids in digestion and reduces the incidence of constipation, thanks to a healthy intestinal flora.
Several weeks before school started I began giving them Kidophilus Plus in addition to their multivitamin to ready them for their fight against back to school germs. The great thing about Kidophilus Plus is they taste good so they take them without giving me a fight unlike vegetables!
What way do you fight back to school germs?
More than the changing schedule or the expense, the GERMS are what I can’t stand about back to school. Within 2 weeks of my kids going back to school, I am sick. Every. Time.
I’ve never taken a prebiotic. I keep hearing good things about them so I should look into it.
These are great tips for anyone with kids heading back to school soon. Schools can be a germ factory.
we take our vitamins everyday! Red got sick yesterday, after only a week of school, so I’m running essential oils to help combat the germs.
Sharing food is definitely something I needed to teach my nieces. They’re all about sharing with one another, which is great, but I needed to teach them some limits so as to keep the germs away!
