I was invited to a special evening of fashion and style hosted by Emme, the iconic, world’s first plus-size supermodel! The evening began with a gracious introduction of Emme by the General Manager of Macy’s @ Lenox. Emme immediately addressed the elephant in the room, where had she been the past decade, the entire audience was shocked to find out she is cancer survivor and took time off to take care of her health and raise her now 13-year-old child. She also expressed her excitement for how far the plus-sized fashion industry had grown over the past 10 years. And than it was time for what we all were so anxious to see, the runway fashion show highlighting the key trends for Fall from top designer.
Fall Fashion Show
The fashion show included a vast variety of dresses, pants, skirts, outer wear and not t be out done SHOES! The models consisted of professional models as well as everyday women including local blogger Joyce of Mommy Talk Show seen below at the far right of the stage.
Fashion Tips
Emme shared many tips and trends throughout the event. I’ll share a few with you.
- Soft pants with print is on trend
- V Necks are super complimentary to a woman
- Neutral skirts with detailed tights/stockings are on trend
- Avoid column like pencil skirts instead find one that really goes in at the knees to create a nice shape
- Avoid over-sized clothing because it only makes you look larger
Q&A
The Question and Answer period was a time for recapping of some of the awesome plus size brands that Macy’s carry including Michael Kors, Calvin Klein and Jessica Simpson. In addition to getting the opportunity to learn more from Macy’s Corporate Stylist Michelle about fall fashions, the audience was able to ask all about their fashion concerns
Meet & Greet
Before leaving and after enjoying some delightful refreshments we were able to meet Emme up close and person. She even gave me a few personal tips on what styles would suit my body! #Winning
