My family and I received no compensation for our stay at Callaway Gardens. All opinions expressed here are my own.
Recently the family and I enjoyed a long weekend getaway in Pine Mountain, Georgia. More specifically we stayed at Callaway Gardens home to the world’s largest azalea garden, inland man-made beach, holly collection and more. Callaway Gardens is the perfect getaway for Metro Atlanta families being less than 2 hours away. This is now our third time vacationing here and I am certain it won’t be our last. The boys have already put in their request to come back in the summer!
Callaway Gardens is a resort and what we love about resorts is that everything you need is just a short walk/bike ride away. If you are looking for relaxation this is definitely the place to go. There are so many attractions and beautiful views that there is something for the entire family. Callaway Gardens includes multiple gorgeous gardens, a Day Butterfly Center, a Birds of Prey Show, a world-class golf course, the world’s largest man-made beach and numerous other must experience attractions.
But I must admit that the most memorable moment of the trip was our adventures through the biking/walking paths. Simply taking in the gorgeous grounds that the Carson family have created for us all to enjoy.
There are several different lodging options to fit all budgets and needs, from the quaint Mountain Creek Inn (basic hotel) to the Lodge and Spa (luxury hotel). We opted to stay somewhere between the two at The Southern Pine Cottages ,which is perfect for groups and families on a budget. No matter which option you choose admission to the Gardens are included during your stay and on the day of departure.
Cottages Amenities:
- One- and two-bedroom suites featuring queen beds
- Living room with fireplace
- Dining room
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Screened in porch and decks (grill included)
- Indoor/outdoor pool
Our absolute favorite part about staying in the Southern Pines Cottages was our ability to cut cost by preparing some of our own meals and enjoying it on the screened in porch. The porch was like a fortress there was absolutely no way anything larger than an ant was getting in. My hubby had a good laugh at my expense when he caught me trying to take a picture of the screening below the floor boards.
While we enjoy preparing our own meals there was no way we could pay a visit to Callaway Gardens and not dine at the Callaway Gardens Country Kitchen Restaurant. The menu is jammed pack with all the southern comfort foods you can think of. One of my favorite “dish” comes even before you order, biscuits with Muscadine preserves! I was thrilled on our first visit to discover the preserves along with honey, fudges, old school candy, and 100’s of other products could be purchased in the Country Store you enter the restaurant through.
But the one thing that continue to draw crowds to the Country kitchen, whether you’re visiting the resort or not (admissions is not required to enjoy this restaurant), is the view. Watching this sunset through a picture window after enjoying a delicious and comforting meal was a perfect ending to an awesome day at Callaway Gardens.

That’s so beautiful. I can’t believe that this is practically in our back yard, and we’ve never been there.

I am not a big outdoorsy person, but I could escape there for a while
Hubby and I stayed there for a blogging conference a couple years ago. I loved the comfortable beds and the bathroom was amazing! I wish I had had more time to explore the area, I want to go back for sure!
