AMALUNA by Cirque du Soleil is now showing in Atlanta under the Grand Chapiteau at Atlantic Station until November 30th. This past Sunday I was able to enjoy this amazing show, this was the third Cirque du Soleil performance I have seen but it was so dynamic and unique that it was like the first time. Keep on reading to find out more about the show and how you can win a family four pack to experience it yourself!
Celebrating its 30th Anniversary in 2014, Cirque du Soleil brings a new show to Atlanta! Amaluna invites the audience to a mysterious island governed by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon. Amaluna’s Tony Award-winning Show Director, Diane Paulus, drew from a series of classical influences when creating the concept of the show; including tales from Greek and Norse mythology, Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Now playing under the famed blue-and-yellow Big Top at Atlantic Station…with great seats as low as $35!
In addition to seeing the show I was also treated to a behind the scene Q & A. Here is where I learned a great deal more about the 142 + performers and staff that makes the show the awe-inspiring experience that it is.
I loved that Amaluna was created to showcase the strength and beauty of women. The all female band definitely set the tone and created the pace of the performance.
My absolutely favorite part of the show was the contortionists who also included a bit of aquatics into her performance. Quick fact: The water is kept at 98 degrees to prevent the performers muscles from seizing up.
The silent costar is certainly the costumes. The nearly 1,000 costume pieces and the detailed makeup that each performer masterfully apply themselves, no doubt establishes the mood even before the performers utter a sound or start a dance.

I am most looking forward to sharing this experience with my boyfriend John for the first time. He has never seen a Cirque show but has expressed a lot of interest in going! I want to see his face when he’s amazed at everything a Cirque show has.
