How To Train Your Dragon 2 Movie Review

Let me preface this by saying that no one in our family has seen How Too Train Your Dragon part 1, but we will be rectifying that this weekend. When we went to the movie we had no idea about the story line nor the quality of the production. But, from the very first scene it grabbed our attention, the soundtrack is very high energy, the scenes are action packed, the story line is relate-able and the animation is amazing.

Several times I looked over and caught my little guys bobbing their heads to the music and being completely captivated by the chase and fighting scenes. If we go to a movie and the boys don’t repeatedly ask to go to the restroom than it’s a winner. In this case only the youngest ask to go once and it was towards the end of the movie (he had held it for as long as he could) so we can definitely count How To Train Your Dragon 2 as a winner in the boys eyes. Specifically since the oldest (whose 5) has already asked if we can buy it on DVD!

The hubby who is now a Director of Motion Design and a Senior Editor by trade was even giddy about the movie stating, “It makes me want to explore 3D character modeling and animation.” Both are skills he learned while attaining one of he’s degrees but never delved completely into. If this guy is impressed by the animation it must be good.

Now I liked it for its coming of age story, what can I say I’m sappy like that. It was touching to see the growth of a young man from being unsure about who he was to becoming the leader of his people. The movie really showed the importance of being confident and just being yourself, because you are good enough.
