I recently went home to Texas to visit my family for the Thanksgiving holidays. Aside for the obvious reasons (i.e family, friends, food and fellowship) I also love going home because my older sister Rochelle gives me a much needed break from doing my own hair. Officially she is only the second person including my experience at Curltopia who has styled my hair since I’ve been natural.
Because I had a very talented person at my disposal I decided try a look that I could never achieve alone. It is very challenging for me to make straight parts, so I typically opt for styles that does not require a part. I also have not mastered the ability to create cornrows. So with that said I present to you the evolution of a style I absolutely love created through a collaboration between my sister and I. Thank you Rochelle for taking on the massive challenge that is my hair!
It’s a Hawk… A Mohawk That Is!
If you are natural, do you find that you go to the hair salon less now?
I definitely go to Salon less, but actually would like to go more, so I can wear more twist styles
I’ve been natural for 7 years and I haven’t been to a hair salon for myself in 7 years. My daughter’s hair is natural but she prefers to wear it straight so she does go the salon. She’s had the fro-hawk (as she calls it) very cute style.
Jae Mac, I’m Just Sayin’…(Damn!)
What salon do you visit most frequently?
Your hair looks fabulous!!! I’m not a salon girl. In fact anytime I have gone to the salon aomeone has taken me as a treat. I appreciate those times however much prefer doing mt own hair to see what I can come up with on my own.
