I was thrilled when I first saw the trailer for the new Paddington movie. It took me back to my childhood when I was a huge fan of the Paddington series.The Bear Called Paddington written by Michael Bond’s in 1958 was the first Paddington book I read. The books share the comical mishaps of the most adorable well-mannered little bear ever. The Bear Called Paddington has long since been established as a modern children’s classic. So my hope entering the theater was that the movie stayed true to the books.
PADDINGTON tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined -until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rare talking bear catches the eye of a museum taxidermist. The film features an entirely computer-generated bear who interacts with a cast of esteemed actors.
Paddington did not disappoint this long time fan. You will laugh and cry all while falling in love with a little bear called Paddington. The cast including Nicole Kidman who played the villain in the movie were all great. The animation and overall cinematography was amazing and kept my entire family captivated. My little guys liked it so much that I will be purchasing several of my favorite Paddington books to add to their collection.
